The values taught by the Righteous of Budapest have not only historical value. The Carl Lutz Society supports events that promote civic courage and humanitarian law.

The Carl Lutz Society organized an online conference in partnership with the IGC, ECUJE (Elie Wiesel Institute, Paris), Payot bookstores and the Yahad in Unum organization. Nearly 300 people attended the event on Zoom and 1,500 on Facebook.

Father Desbois came to speak about his new book (Les Larmes du Passeur, Ed. du Rocher). Father Desbois is a professor at Georgetown University. He is responsible for the concept of “Shoah by bullets” in Eastern Europe. At the same time, he is conducting research on the genocide of the Yazidis in Iraq. Father Desbois has received numerous international awards, including the Human Rights Award from the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice (Washington, D.C.), a member of our Board of Directors.

Adiba Qasim, a Yazidi survivor, works at the Geneva Center for Security Policy. Touted as a role model by the United Nations Refugee Agency, she was a speaker alongside UN Secretary General Guterres in February 2020.
